We will be taking a whirlwind trip July 7 - 14th. Manistee to meet up with Jim McGee for the Rendevous, then up to Frankfort and over to Sturgeon Bay then down to Sheboygan and Milwaukee and back over to Grand Haven. All if weather permits. I have never been to Sturgeon Bay, is there any good spots to drop anchor for one night? Anything not to miss in Sheboygan? Two nights in Milwaukee but unfortunately we will have to miss the air show:-( Wish I had more time )-:

Would love to see what others are doing this summer!

Jeff.... breaks my heart that I don't see Charlevoix on your list of ports this tour!! Hope you're well and the 15 is still running like a clock!!

We plan to be in Charlevoix next week. Wouldn't miss it, we leave today.

We have some time off during the first two weeks of July so we will be cruising Lake Michigan too. Hopefully we cross paths with some of you. We brought a boat from Algonac to Frankfort last weekend so we were in Charlevoix for a night. I was going to stop and say hi Jeff, but you took off before I got a chance to.

We will miss being in Charlevoix but wanted to mix things up and try some Wisconsin beer.
The little 15hp motor runs great !

Jealous! I hope to get up to Pentwater during Coast Guard fest this year. Saugatuck for a long weekend mid-July. That's about all the big lake traveling I have planned. I don't have the fuel budget and vacation time I wish I had!

Hoping this weather turns around for us soon. I don't think the wind has stopped blowing since March...

yes, the weather has sucked lately, getting a free boat wash today. We plan to be in Saugatuck for The Venetian Festival, of coarse, weather permitting:wow:

In July, 2015, we cruised from Chgo to Saugatuck to Ludington to Leland to Sturgeon Bay to Sheboygan to Racine to Chgo. Leland was the best of the lot. Great small town w/ several bars and restaurants. Traverse City is a short cab ride away. Find a fishboil in Surgeon Bay.

Keep an eye on the dates of the 2017 GLCC Rendezvous as space might be tight in Sturgeon Bay during that time. Not many places to overnight on the hook in the SB. Plenty of weeds this year. Suggest you pass into Green Bay and find your way north (17 mi) to Egg Harbor. It is an interesting little place that will give you a taste of Door County and offers plenty of good anchorage. About 5 more miles and you're in Fish Creek and can find anchorage behind the mooring field.

No real secluded places to anchor in Sturgeon Bay. There is a lot of traffic through there. Centerpointe Marina is nice and more sedate, Harbor Club (Skipperbuds) is more of a party atmosphere, and the restaurant Sonny's is a great place attached to that marina.

Rick,
Thanks for the information, I will have to try Egg Harbor, heard good things about it.

Sturgeon Bay would highly recommend staying at Centerpoints facility. Beautiful marina with pool, nice facilities, and courtesy Ice Machine for your cooler. Depending on timing Sheboygan and wanting night life, Sheboygan is better Thurs-Sat, otherwise the town is pretty dead. If you have kids you can head over to Blue Harbor Resort and get a day pass for the water-park. The beach is really nice there and they allow fires until 10/10:30pm. Milwaukee, definitely do the the river if you have never been. Lots of restaurants/bars to visit although you will have to signal the bridges to have them raised.

Sounds like a fun trip, enjoy.

Thanks for the info Erik, Just the admiral & I, daughter at camp:grin:. Breweries and Wineries on the agenda for that week. We have been to Milwaukee before but this time we take the bikes around the city.

Just finishing two weeks up north. Weather was cool and we dodged a few storms thanks to Sirius XM weather and NOAA live feeds.
Mackinaw City was windy as always, Harbor Springs and Charlevoix are in a class by themselves. The real treat was Petosky as we had never spent much time there. Mackinaw Island was not too busy and the docks were at an awkward height for our boat, but the island is still magical. We ran from the Island to Port Austin which has probably the cleanest state marina we have visited. All the marinas were great though.
Apologies for not getting down to Elk Rapids or seeing Jeff in Charlevoix. We were in slip 8 for three nights across from his boat.

Dang it Jaws!! Sorry I missed you!! Glad you had a great trip up here in God's country!!
