Lake Gaston Va. or Kerr lake?

Does anyone have a boat on one of these lakes? We may be moving to this area and it doesn't seem like there are any permanent boat docks out there. just day use docks.

If any one knows anything about living in this area ,i would love to hear about it.

Gaston and Kerr lakes are very different bodies of water. That plus the type of boating you like to do may influence your choice of lakes.
I have had a boat on Kerr lake for over almost 20 years.
There are three marinas: Satterwhite Point, Steele Creek, and Clarksville (VA).

Steele Creek is the largest with all wet slips. Satterwhite is the second largest and also has dry stack storage for boats up to 26 feet. Both are located just outside of Henderson NC less than 15 minutes from I85.

On the Virginia side of the lake, Clarksville Marina is just a couple of blocks from downtown Clarksville. All have boat ramps but no haul out facilities.
I am currently in Steele Creek but also used Clarksville for a number of years. All three usually have a waiting list.
