I'm taking a trip to the dells in a few days and wondering if anyone out there has boated on this lake before? I saw it when it emptied 8 years ago and from what I remember there was a lot of tree stumps and the lake bottom it self looked like a field and not very deep. Online it say's it's a average depth of 12 feet. So I guess looking at a lake that is empty might just give the feeling of a flat (non deep) lake. Reason for the post is if someone has boated on the lake, maybe that can tell me if there's any area's to stay away from. I don't want to replace my lower unit because of a stump. Thanks

I see that this is an old post, but thought I'd still pipe in... Lake Delton is fine, a very convienent lake for the Dells. However, Castle Rock Lake to the north offers a lot more. We really enjoyed boating there... just make note of how shallow many of the coves get. We ended up getting a little muddy because I wasn't paying attention.
