Too bad you were one boat short of a full circle! :smt043 (just kidding, know that was intentional.)

Acutally, very cool, and great photos. I've only seen that style raftup once here on the bay and it was in fairlee creek, for a yacht club cruise. They too had a platform in the middle with a PA system, flagpole, and a live band for entertainment at one point.

The initial setup of the first 4 boats (anchor boats) takes anywhere from 4 to 8 hours. We then build 4 separate raft-ups and when all boats are finally there, we form the circle and that takes another 4 hours or so. Lots of work but lots of fun.

Do they keep lines between the boats within the circle or is it wide open?

Not sure, when I saw it we were just neighbors/spectators from outside the circle in the creek. There were definitely multiple achors out in all directions and lines between the boats, but I assumed either the platform was well anchored and folks had lines to that, or just between the neighboring boats. The other thing is the majority of fairlee creek is 5-7 feet deep so I wasnt sure if the platfrom was truly anchored or if maybe it had pilings/legs down to the bottom holding it in place like a work barge.

Either way, your setup is very cool, as was theirs. Would love to participate in an event like that. Hoping we can get a bigger middle-bay event going here on the chesapeake this year, and maybe a raftup of the willing too!

Great pics! Thanks for sharing!

Just thought I would share a few more pictures from last year to get my blood pumping for this weekend. We will have a smaller group but it will be good times as always!

Good timing for this thread to resurface. Circular raft-ups are a lot of fun. Our yacht club had one last weekend and 58 boats showed up. Most of them were in the 30'-35' range but several larger ones and quite a few wakeboard boats, aluminum jet powered fishing boats in the 26' range, etc.

We didn't join in because we weren't expecting to be back from our trip to MI. Once we determined that we had to cut the trip short and got back home, it was kind of late to plan for our boat but we did take the Whaler down there and joined in the fun. The Whaler was the smallest boat in the raft-up.

One of the members of the club owns a pizza franchise. Every year, once all the boats are set, he takes orders for pizzas (at $5/large pizza), collects the $$ from everyone and orders the pizzas. They deliver the pizzas down to the dock and he uses his dinghy to deliver them to the boats. This year they probably delivered over a hundred pizzas to the raft up.

A great time was had by all involved.

Very cool, post some pictures!
