Good Day Everyone,

Marina says I need to replace the all the bellows on my Bravo1 as they are the originals and are starting to push the limit before dry rot kicks in. OK, so I agree with them as I am sure it should have been a tad sooner. They are the originals from when the boat first splashed in the spring of 2011. While they have it apart, they recommend changing the shift cable. The drive was already off as it was serviced over the winter.

They are quoting about $1,000 (parts for the bellows and shift cable and about 6 hours labor).

Does this sound about right?

If the drive is already removed for winter service, the I would say this $1000 quote is high.

You’re already paying for drive removal/install with the winter service.

By the way, you have a Bravo I on a 2010 boat?

Yes, I do. I pointed that out as well as the drive was already off, so that should be taken into account.

Funny you asked about the drive. This week, the winter Marina where I am at right now (Seaborne in Bay Shore) said that mine was the first they've ever seen with that setup and not have a Bravo3 (per Kevin who used to work at MarineMax in Lindenhurst and is now at Seaborne).

I've always had issues getting up on plane (I have the stock motor) and swapped out my prop 2 summers ago for a 4-blade -- which helped a lot. Most with Bravo3's got up on plane faster from what I heard.

I replaced my u-joint and shift cable bellows last spring. Once I had all the tools, it was about a 3 hour job. My drive was already removed as well.

I am still not in the water! Time to look for another winter marina for storage...
