Have a 1995 550 Searay. Need to remove the salon L shaped sofa. Does anyone have any ideas on how it is installed. Trying to get behind to service heating unit.

On my 96 500 i had to lift the cushions off and there were screw holding panels in place. After that there were some more screws holding the sofa sections in place. Good luck with it!

I have a 1998 550DB and have removed the sofa several times. It is actually quite simple:
1. The sofa is actually two pieces bolted together. Remove the seat cushions first and look between the second and third sections. You should find two bolts with wing nuts holding the sections together. Remove and put aside.
2. Next, open the galley cabinet to the starboard side of the icemaker. Near the bottom of the cabinet, you will find two bolts. Remove and put aside.
3. Along the inside of the sofa bottom, along the base rails, you will find several long self-tapping screws which hold the sofa to the floor. Remove and put aside.
4. Lastly, remove the Bose subwoofer cable which are normally attached to the sofa base with some wire ties.
That should do it. When you're done, use the indentations in the carpet to place the sofa back in its original position. I recommend putting the bolts in first and then re-inserting the self-tapping screws.
BTW, there is an access panel behind the curved sofa back which allows for the changing of filters.
