Re-opening Sykes Creek facility due to demand for the L-Class yachts. Good News for sure.

"KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (Jan. 7, 2015) — Due to the overwhelming market reception and solid retail demand for its new L-Class yachts, Sea Ray will increase
production capacity by reactivating its Sykes Creek manufacturing facility in Merritt Island, Fla. The expanded production will commence in the summer of
2015. Hiring will begin immediately, and the company expects to create up to 100 new jobs over the next 12 months."

That news doesn't surprise me a bit. Sea Ray has built a nice looking boat that's of good quality and it's a time when the boating world is picking up steam.

Nice job SR.

Guess we'll be seeing "L Class" boats out on the water this year :)
Really liked it when I was onboard at the Miami Boat Show...
I wonder how many they've sold....?

Good news for VEEM as well. Unfortunately for US manufacturer's of inboard propellers....

There are a couple of PropScan/Hale places in eastern VA that are licensed distributers for VEEM. They don't even check them for trueness anymore. For years every set checked has measured 100% spot on out of the box. If US prop manufacturers paid that kind of attention at the point of origin, Sykes could have been good news for them too.

My 2 cents

Rolls Royce had record sales as well. I'm waiting for the steam to pick up in the real world. I applaud SR for carving a niche with all their innovation and honestly, as a consumer, wish they were not under the Brunswick umbrella. It would be interesting to see them spread their wings.

Gone are the days when every man has a boat. The future is in selling to the super rich. Sea Ray knows that.

US manufacturer's do too. They are scanned before shipment with documentation included with the props. It's more of a cost and short lead time deal with VEEM vs. US suppliers.

When we saw Rusty in LI last summer, they've sold around 30 L650s with 1.5yr waiting list.

Awesome job, Sea Ray!

Cost meaning VEEM's are less expensive? Since when?

Short lead time I can't answer. But I can tell you that other than VEEM, suppliers here scan props prior to sale regardless of what is on the box or in the box telling them the props meet certain specs. The facts as the sellers state them is they don't. It is what it is. Don't shoot the messenger.

Good job Sea Ray!

Yes, good for Sea Ray indeed.
I just hope the can hire back some of the craftsmen and women that they laid off in the first place.

I hope Sea Ray doesn't forget the value of quality in components. I saw a L-650 get hauled today due to a busted rudder and various problems while it was on it's way to its new home.

Can you elaborate on this? Was there a defect with the rudder or did it hit something? And, what were the "various problems"?

OK Sea Ray is using 650 and 590 for model numbers right ?

Why in the hell is Bayturd using 642 for its 21ft overnighter ? ?.
