I am interested in getting a better source for TV during overnight trips. How does the KVH systems work and what version would be best for my 280 being used mostly in inland and coastal waters in Florida.

The KVH dish would mount to your radar arch. On a 280 you'd likely want to look at an M1 possibly an M3, but most likely an M1 due to size. Do you have DirecTV or Dish at home? If not you would need to sign up for service.

Think of the KVH dish as the same type of dish you would put on your home. The only difference is that is can track the satellite while you move.

The KVH unit doesn't really give you the TV, it just is your dish. You then need to have a DirecTV or Dish receiver. Some units do come with this so check around. There are several retailers who sell these online.

You will need a coax run from the KVH unit to your receiver box.

We have an M3 unit and had it installed by our dealer. Take into account you will need a mount for the unit. If you have a Raydome you can get a mount that will hold both, but keep in mind how much weight you are putting on your arch.

KVH has good info on their website about how the system works.
