i just purchased a KVH unit, and am planning on putting it in place of my old glomex antenna.....
my question is has anyone done this with a radar unit a couple feet away from it and if so have you had any interference issues between the two?
kvh recommends four feet away and four feet higher, that is unreasonable and im not putting it that high up, it would probably be about 2 or 2.5 feet to the left of my radar and i was thinking of a seaview antenna mount that would be about 10 or 15 inches above my radar arch......

any past experiences or comments please and thank you.......

Most likely you'll have a "blind spot" on the radar where KVH will be. To avoid this your best bet is to get combo mount similar to one you see on my boat. Mine is SeaView.

Absolutely you'll get a blind spot if you mount it at the same level as the radar antenna, and being that close to the antenna the blind spot will be huge. We used a mount similar to Alex's. It put the antenna behind and above the radar antenna. I'm not sure it's 4' from the radar but it's close to that.

yours is obviously above your radar, does the fact that i was going to put it higher than my radar as well matter?
or is the problem that it is off to the side of my radar?
the way i look at it, yours is above your radar but behind it, mine would be above my radar and to the side of it....
i just really want to cover up the holes from my old glomex with the new mount thats why im asking this, i really like your mount system, and if i didnt have another mount off to the side i wouldnt even be asking any of this
i know i could have the holes repaired and there up there so who would really see them if they werent perfect but just want to know all of my options thats all

thanks for the input

The proper height is what does the trick. I really doubt that you'll get the same height with any mount on the side. Otherwise, you'll have the weirdest looking setup.

ya good point, i will order one of the ones like you guys have..

thanks again for the input, absolutley love this site!!!!!

i have a double mount with light for sale, if your interested shoot me an pm
