This antenna looks really nice... tracks 3 satellites at a time for both Ka and Ku band. The only other satellite antenna maker to get HD for DirecTV is the one from Intellian but you have to have two domes (one for Ku and one for Ka).

The antenna is big though. Mine is currently 18" and this thing is 24"... I'll need a bigger electronics mast for that monster.

$13,000.00!!!!!

I'll wait.

If you ever get your book out, you can use the proceeds to fund the dome...looks like it could be a long time before HD makes it to Four Suns. :wow:

That's just a little bit over my boating entertainment budget.

I thought you already had HD... wasn't that part of the A/V upgrade?

I look at the lousy non-HD picture from my M-3 and it drives me crazy. The over the air HD from the Blomex looks great though. But I'm not upgrading anytime soon with that kind of price!

I have an HD multi-zone router... 6 sources to 5 TV's independently controlled. The whole system is HD capable but the only things "HD" are the Blu-Ray player and the AppleTV. I also put in new HD DirecTV sat receivers (2) in hopes that I could upgrade the current KVH antenna in the future... I hate the standard def from that thing. Looks like crap once you get used to seeing HD. But not for $13,000....

Check out the Intellian d4 and d6, they receive both Ka and Ku bands from the same dish.

The last time I looked at these guys you needed 2 antennas/domes to get Ku and Ka band. It appears they've made some advances that only one antenna can now get both bands. That's nice... until you start playing satellite wars with two receivers on the boat.

The price is much more reasonable though... about $5K...

Not to resurrect a old thread but I'm looking at getting satellite TV for the boat and am really torn. The KVH HD7 is out of the ream of possibility due to the price (currently about 11k) but the Intellian S6HD at about 7k might be, and it seems to have all the same features as the HD7.

It's still way more then I want to spend but my only other option if I want HD is to switch to DISH and get a KVH M3 but I'm not happy with the receiver options.

Apparently to get HD with the KVH M3 you have to use the Dish 211k receiver and you can't have the 211k and the newer hopper system on the same account and I also have concerns on how this system will work with multiple receivers tuned to different channels.

Also I have 3 TV's on my boat and I'd like to be able to have separate receivers for all of them and also have DVR capability at least on the salon TV.
