Afternoon All,

It's about that time of year where the weather is cooling down enough for the annual topside gelcoat compounding, polishing and waxing. Last year about a third of the way through my annual labor fest I decided that I should just buy a gallon of the "49" oxidation remover, as my boat was new to me and had been sitting for three years unattended.

So I bought a gallon and used about half of it, then stored it in my garage.... Went to gather all of my compounding supplies and found that the "49" had seperated and that the better part of the "grit" had stuck slidly to the bottom of the jug, and the fluid left over was a pinkish oil substamce. No amount of shaking or stirring would get the compound to it's original consisyency. I wrote an email to Maguiars to see if there was a way, like heating to get the compound back to life.
The service rep responded offering to send me a replacement gallon at no charge. I wasn't looking for this but thought it was a good gesture, as I was contemplating switching to 3M.

Now they get me to buy more polish for the second step, and I will now use their wax as well...

That's customer service...

I used Meguiar's 1,2,3 system on my old Volvo and was very impressed with the results. I hoped they had a similar system for boats. Based on your post, it appears they do. What numbers are on the products that you use?

TIA.
