I got a service bulletin from SeaRay today that told me to stop using my Kohler generator immediately. Anyone else get this?

"SeaRay has been notified by Kohler Power Systems of a potential quality issue on many 5EKD, 7.5EKD, and 10EKD generators. Kohler will be issuing a US Coast Guard recall campaign for the impacted generators.... Sea Ray instructs customers to not operate the affected generator until they receive the recall notice directly from Kohler"

Yes, I got one today! It did not explain what the problem was?
 
I guess this starts the thread on what is the problem with the generator. I have been having frustrating problems with my genset regarding coolant. Older genset had a black exhaust that had to be replaced with a stainless steel exhaust because the deteriorated and leaked. Some people died from CO emmisions on Lake of The Ozarks some years ago.

I checked their site and can't find anything. Do you know where we could look it up. I didn't receive a notice .
 
Perhaps you are not one of the " lucky" ones to own a defective one. Mine is only 3 years old. Had to replace the defective entire control board after 40 hours of use. Glad it was still under warrenty. It says for questions to call KOHLER 800-544-2444 or Sea Ray. 865-971-6250.
 
I called Sea Ray at the above number and they can let you know if you're affected based on your HIN. On a different note our marina received a list of boats that are involved too.
 
Good question. The 800# that I called for Kohler said they didn't know the specifics which was weird. The Kohler bulletin was SB730.
 
I contacted Prince William Marina today and they said they were told by SeaRay about 40 of their boats are on the list. So far they don't know:

-What the problem is.
-When they will know more
-When they will get parts
-How long it will take for them to get to every boat

It must be serious enough for them to say several times in the letter "don't run the generator"
 
Ours came in the mail yesterday. Bummer - sending the pdf from Kohler directly to the service manager at our dealer - hoping to expedite the process!
