My Kohler 5ecd generator won't crank. I hear the fuel pump priming and a bunch of things clicking and humming, but it won't crank. I then get an "OC" error code. I did a little research and tried some of the obvious tests. I am not hydro locked. I pulled the plugs and they are dry. I have power. I have 13.4 volts at the starter. I even used a jump pack as a back up. Hooked up the jump pack and same thing. Any suggestions?

Starter or starter solenoid has gone bad? Have you tried rubber mallet to "tap" the starter to see if it frees up?
I have the same model generator. I had one on my last boat and had no issues with it. The one I have on my current boat has more down time than run time for sure. Good luck.

Forgot to mention the hammer. Yes I did tap the starter. Maybe I was too gentle ;)

Update.. Found the issue. Wires going to solenoid had corrosion. Wiggle the wire head to improve the contact and the generator started. :smt038 So next step is disconnect and clean all the wires on the solenoid. Glad it wasn't a computer board.

Glad to hear! Way to stick with it and thanks for posting update!
