Fired up my generator for the 1st time, and it quit after 5 minutes. Tried over and over again and it just stops after 5 minutes. Everything looked OK but.
Had my mechanic in and he replaced the sensors and filters, etc, and still failed.
Finally go Kohler dealer maintenance guy in for $$$$$ and it turned out to be spark plugs. $11 for the part and $500 for the know how.
So anyone with this problem, new spark plugs might just fix it.

As newby to this site, is it just me or do other people find this site difficult to move around. It's not apparent how to easily start new threads, and I can't upoad photos. And why do I see so many entries so outdated.

Hang in there and yes if you could have done a search you'd find the first thing you do to kohlers is change plugs. There's not much that someone in here hasn't seen and will give advice on. At the top of the page under forums you can just hit the 'new post' button and see all the latest. Welcome to CSR !

and under FAQ's you'll see a tutorial on uploads. ( plus a sponsorship gets lots more space )

Yep, replace the kohler plugs regularly. I upped mine one heat range value last time, currently on 18 months without a hiccup......Before anyone says anything, yes I would normally cahnge them when I service the engine, but unfortunatley with my lower back and kneck issues, by the time I had changed oil and filters in 3 engines, the water pump in the Kohler.......it just wasnt going to happen.
