Ok, boats up for sale, so last week I was down fiddling with the aircon and running the generator, heard the gennie, change note, so I thought I know that noise, checked the outlet no water flow, so shut the gennie down.
Bought a new impellor during the week. Then was told yesterday, family looking at the boat were going for a test run at 8am this morning
So I was down here at 6. Pulled the impellor cover off, thought thats an odd smell and that water running out looks cloudy and gluey.
Vranked the engine over, and realised the impellor was fine, but changed it anyway.
Opened the watercock before I fitted the new impellor and watched a trickle of water flow. So reassembeld the new impellor.
Then checked the strainer, thought gee that looks cloudy, no weed or anything just cloudy.
Pulled the strainer apart.........what a stink.
Came to the conclusion it sucked a jellyfish up!
Still cant get the smell off my hands.!
Spent 20 minutes hosing the bilge trying to rid the dead fish smell before they arrived

Good luck with the sale.

We sold our 2004 300DA last week. The boat was immaculate but I still got nervous when the broker took the boat out with the surveyor and the purchasers and tested everything - all turned out fine in the end.

We would like to buy another Sea Ray, although the Riviera's and Caribbean's are more appealing as you get into the 35 - 40ft flybridge range. The Sea Ray Sedan Bridge's seem to struggle in the local market. Reluctantly we are going to go through a summer without a boat, (we are overseas for much of the summer) however should have something sorted for the 2016 - 2017 summer :)

Ian, good luck on finding and fixing the problem BEFORE the buyers and the surveyor got there.

What did they think of the boat? Any offer yet?

fingers crossed, Survey was done a week ago, I have fixed most of the issues addressed, couple of stupid ones,.....Toilet doesn't work, it worked the day before the survey! Either the surveyor or myself had knocked a wiring connection apart in the bilge!
Water showed up in the legs, which I was pissed about, as I have never skimped on maintenance, and the legs were serviced with new bellows in September, so it went up on the slip Friday, selector seals had gone hard on one, and a shaft seal on the other, both fixed.
Winch didn't work, it was working, anyway stripped it down, and quickly came to the conclusion I was being a little optimistic to repair it.......lesson learned, it was one of those items I had looked at replacing but haven't used the boat much this year due to several reasons. I have bought a Riviera 36' Tournament, which suits our current needs better.
I like the Sea Ray 40 - 48 Bridges, but in our market you really need to negioate the price right down to bottom dollar, the issue being resale, they will take far longer to sell than a Riv or a Carribean.
The Carribean's really have a reputation of being very basic on the fitout. Designed more around the fishing fraternity rather than the wife and family.
For quality and resale, Riv, Blackwatch.
