So I have a Kohler 5ECD on board the 260 and am getting an intermittent EC69 error. I've researched it both here at CSR and on the internet. It all references the O2 sensor but I don't know where it is on the generator. The generator is located under the cockpit deck just forward of the hatch so I can only easily see the front of the generator. I've also looked for the service manual (TP-6391) but can't find it on kohler's website. I do have the parts manual but it doesn't clearly show where the O2 sensor is. Does an O2 sensor intermittently go out?

Also I've checked the basics. Water flow is good and temp is good when it runs. Power output isn't an issue. AC and microwave both work on it. I did have an LOC shutdown but found a spade connector on the front of the unit that I may have kicked loose during my first time in the engine room.

Anyone have thoughts on this or know where I can buy a service manual? Kohler is no help.

Awesome Thanks for the link. I was speaking with the Kohler tech at my marina and he said he's never had to replace an O2 sensor but that there is a board that goes bad behind the ADC2100 that gets replaced regularly. He stated that it has a battery on board that can't be changed. I'm wondering if he is talking about the CO module and how this could be related to the EC69 code I'm getting. Either way I'll check the O2 Sensor but it did confuse me when he mentioned that board.

I'll update on the results when I get down there to test.

So they did end up replacing a CO board behind the panel on the generator. Covered under warranty so it only cost me $25 call out instead of $215 for parts plus labor. We will be testing it this weekend. Unfortunately I've had a string of other hobbies get in the way of my boating time.

Very curious...do you have a new gen or is it possible that an '05 gen is still under warranty?

Thanks,
Bennett

I purchased an extended warranty available with my dealerships certified (under 10 years old) boats. Its got three years of transferable warranty.

But that being said the surveyor and I don't think the generator was ordered from the factory so someone really wanted AC on the hook.
