This is my first post but have been reading this forum for over a year. Thanks for all the updates and information as it has saved me time and dollars many times over.

My Kohler 3.5kw generator runs for about an hour and then shuts off. If you let it sit for about an hour, it will crank and run for another hour before shutting off again. When I open the engine hatch the generator seems to be putting off high amounts of heat. I have replaced the impeller, checked coolant fluid to ensure it is full, checked the strainer to rid of any impediments, and ensured water is being discharged via the thru hull when the generator is running (the discharged water is extremely hot). Any ideas on what the issue may be? I am trying to run the generator every time out this year based upon information provided on other threads.

It may be time to remove the end caps of the heat exchanger and see if the tubes are blocked. May have old pieces of impeller, zincs or just salt build up. Remove and have cleaned and inspected. Or maybe a slightly lower temp thermostat if it's available.
