My KEC DVD player in the aft salon has bit the dust. They are no longer made. The one in my main salon works fine.

Has anyone found a suitable replacement - I prefer one with the audio and video plugs on the front...

Last summer I helped a friend who was in a similar fix with a KEC DVD on his '06 300 Sundancer. The in dash DVD units that have front panel inputs are apparently being phased out in favor of front panel USB inputs and player compatibility for IPOD/MP3 players and memory sticks.

I helped him find an inexpensive replacement on www.etronics.com.

The above unit should do all you need and might even take the same wire loom. The legacy unit he purchased was plug and play, but I understand they are all not the same plug. I would also suggest you get a cheap unit now and see what comes out later this year. I have heard rumors that mobile electronics manufacturers are trying to incorporate digital tuners into the new equipment so you can watch crystal clear tv while on the road or on the water using an antenna and no external digital converter box.

Good luck,

Dan

Mine bit the dust on my 320 too.. Been waiting to see what I want to do and a combination digital tuner would be perfect, so I'm going to wait it out a while and see... Let me know what you got and how it hooked up to the existing wires if you can.
thanks

Both mine died as well. Bought replacements through BOE, but don't recall the manufacturer (I'll check tomorrow). Has front panel inputs too. Easy swap.

The units I put in were Myron and Davis. I bought them last year, so they're probably obsolete!

Any player that's 3/4 DIN will fit. I wasn't too fussy in terms of features, etc, but these units work great.

My dock neighbor replaced his with a stereo that plays DVD's. It was around $100 and has a remote. He ended up redoing the stereo and has a stereo in the cabin and the cockpit now.

How did you remove the DVD deck. I also have a 320 and the KEC deck bit the dust.

The new one came with two "keys" - just straight metal tabs about 2 1/2 inches long. These insert into the sides and release the tabs that hold it in.

Google "auto DVD player removal" and you'll find a description on how to remove them.

I'll give you the name of my replacement unit this weekend - the KEC and the Myron Davis units are no longer available...

My KEC stop working last weekend. I went through some of the threads and found that some replaced it with a Farenheit 36. I bought one online for $59 free shipping and it arrived yesterday. I'll install it this weekend and maybe if it ever stops RAINING I'll get a chance to take the boat out.

Thanks for the information on how to remove the deck. All I had to do was insert the two metal keys and I was able to easily remove the deck. I replaced both players with the JVC 7400. Great Player. It has a USB port so it is easy to connect my ipod. The deck uses the tv to display song lists, etc. I highly recommend upgrade.

MM replaced my inop KEC with a VST model VDV101. It does not have a USB input...that sounds like a great feature.

This weekend's project is to hook up the iPod to the AUX terminal on the Clarion.

Don't they make a Blu Ray player that I could use as a replacement for my KEC?

Blu Ray would be nice on the boat - as long as it is easy to update the firmware. Post a link for a small Blu Ray player if you find one that works.
