So my 360 closed today and, as luck would have it, i find out today we're probably going to have a hurricane later this week! and it's my first boat!

So it's a crash course in preparedness...
extra lines...maybe drop the anchor...remove canvass...

any other thoughts on how to (literally) weather the storm? :smt001

Check your insurance requirements. You may be required to haul or better yet, you may be reimbursed for a haul.

Every update to the forecast seems to show Irene going a bit further east, let's hope that trend continues!

how close is it expected to come to you? If its not too close, extra lines should help... But its best, especially if it's expected to come close, to haul it, and store in an indoor hurricane storage facility.

So how does this work for you guys living in S. Florida. How often do you have to haul out due to hurricanes and other weather? What is the cost each time to do it? Will your marina do it for you if you are out of town and what do you do if it destroys your marina?

Seems like a lot to deal with?

You mean East right? The storm is moving east and hopefully won;t be a factor to Florida but as of now SC or NC.

Most of the Marinas in Orange Beach have a Hurricane package. They will haul the boat and put it on dry land or inside and all you have to do is pay in advance of the season for the service. Mine is in dry storage so I would be OK for small storm...

I am in dry storage as well. The instructions from the marina are essentially "secure any loose items and confirm that your marine insurance is valid." Interesting to note that you aren't allowed to secure your boat to the storage racks.

I have an arrangement with a local marina for haul and block up in case of a hurricane. $10 foot is the charge. It' s a small family owned place off the beaten path but they do have a travelift and will put it high and dry if I need it.

WOW, by all means,,, Get it out of the watter. Unless it's a steel 200 footer, I would not dare leave a glass boat in the water during a category storm.

Water that has 90MPH winds pushing it?

Good to know. What is the fee paid in advance and is it refunded at the end of the season if it does not need to be hauled, or at least carried over the the next season? Thanks for the info.
