Just Joined the Club

Hi All,

We just found this SeaRay club and joined right away. We are owners of a 24' 1978 Weekender. We've been plugging away at restoring her, this is our third year. Fortunately we've been able to boat with her during this as well or may have hit the discouraged stage by now. My husband is doing alot of the mechanical, me the cosmetic. I read someone here wondering about the teak. Both us and our neighbours (1977 SRV-240) have used Cetol-Natural by Sikkens and WOW results. Yes - we've removed it first before sanding and staining but worth it in the end because with 4 to 7 coats, you're good for a fewyears before you have to redo it. Glad to be on board & happy boating!

My first boat was a '77 SRV240. The cuddy version. Had alot of fun with that boat. Hugh cockpit for a 24 footer.
Post some pictures when you can, and some of your neighbor's '77 so I can refresh my memory.

Hi all. My wife and I bit hard after we moved here three years ago. A year went by and we got sick of watching all our neighbors motoring past our house out to Lake St. Clair. Our backyard is a canal out to the lake. So, in July of 2006 we purchased a 2006 SR 260 DA. By the end of the year we had over 100 hrs on the motor and had her in two of the five Great Lakes. Knowing we wanted to go farther we put a new 2006 300 DA in the water in May 2007. 200 hours in '07 and four of the five Great Lakes! Yep, we drank the kool-aid. This year's long trip, two weeks, will see us traverse Lake Erie, lock through the Welland to Lake Ontario and up the Trent Severn Waterway to Georgian Bay, Lake Huron and back to Lake St. Clair. The mini-loop. Our goal is to do the Great Loop once we retire in 5-7 years. Can't wait!
