I had posted the question on how to get to my bilge pump a couple of weeks ago and got lots of help. After looking at my options I thought the best way was to remove the rear seating support structure, and with the help of my neighbor I got it fixed. It was a royal PITA. It has been three years since I had the impeller changed so I figured I would give that a shot too. I am new to the DIY club. With a lot of great advice from members here (esp. Dennis) and reading all I could, I ordered the whole replacement kit and set to it. I finally finished it last night and I will say that the impeller was easier to do than the bilge pump. It was one of the best decisions I have made in reguards to preventative maintenance, because when I pulled the old one out it had several vanes that were cracked and one had a chunck missing. I have a noticeable increase of water coming out the exhaust and all seems to be working much better. In reading about changing the impeller I saw that most people say to change them every 3 years some do it every year and some every other year. My observation is that three years is risky and that every other year is probably the way I am going to go.
