He will be doing it next monday. He just got a call to move a boat from baltimore to cleveland and has to go tonight and leave baltimore in the morning on i belive a 420 or 480.said he will be back in cleveland saturday, they have to beat the lock closings somewhere along the route so they are going to be moving fast once underway or the boat will be stuck untill spring.Funny thing he is moving it for my broker to the same marina my hopefully new boat is at.He said he will probably start the survey on next sunday and finish it monday ,but i wont recive it untill wednsday.I have been waiting for a copy of the contract but now i know my broker has been very busy with this deal as the loan just went through about one hour ago.Hopefully he will have a few minutes to spare now.It will be a chilly trip i think and the surveyor said he will be sending me pics and updates along the way so that will be pretty cool too.I am guessing this boat buying is going to sate my winter boredom somewhat.Glen PS: I dont know if i should give his name but he seems very knowledgeable ,does some boat building and captains a small cruise boat out of cleveland.

I recived my contract today, read it three times added a few things to contingency list and emailed it back ,quickly recieved phone call stating everything is good that i added and he just forgot about it that is why he left lines for me to fill in.surveyor is in baltimore but havent left the dock yet. They have untill the 13th to lock through the north end of chesapeak bay if i heard right, the broker was skeet shooting so it was a noisy call and his cell receptin not too good.

Let me see if I've got this straight, the surveyor is moving your new boat to your marina from Baltimore to Cleveland? I don't know of any locks in the Chesapeake. How are they bringing the boat to Cleveland? Wouldn't it have been easier to have it trucked to Ohio from MD?

Good luck with the new boat.

nope, surveyor is moving a boat that was purchased yesterday he is a captain also.He is moving it from baltimore to cleveland. My new to me boat is in cleveland already at the same marina he (the surveyor/captain)is bringing the boat he is transporting. As i said it was a noisy phone call from my broker so i may have the lock location incorrect.Sorry for the mix-up.Probably would be cheaper but it is a large boat so mabey it would be a pain to get permits etc. at this time of year,or mabey the new owner is excited about his new boat being close to home .I will try to ask next time i speak with the surveyor.Glen

The tainter gate work at lock 13 on the Erie canal may be what he's talking about. When I was at the site earlier this week, they were closed. Will reopen briefly, for about 2 - 3 days, then will close them the 13th. They have already watered down quite a bit on that section of the Mohawk. rest of the system closes the 15th. He better hurry, I wish him luck. Good luck to you also with your new boat.

That sounds right 3sons, thanks

At noon today he was running in the hudson river.

This morning he is locking through the welland canal then heading across lake erie and follow the shore south to cleveland. They have been held up by weather but are still on schedule to start my survey tomorrow. The weather is going to turn ugly on erie tomorrow with waves to 16 ft tomorrow night so today he caught a break with 3 fters deminishing to 1 ft for most of the day.

Survey underway this am,engines tomorrow.I was sent home today ,no power from storms last night, going nutty a bit waiting for phone to ring .I think i saw a nail pop that needs tending.Glen

I hope all goes well on the almost new ride.

What are you doing with the old ride ??.

Shes for sale wayne.

Well, the hull bottom, structure and deck are all good no rot or moisture issues where expected on this old of a sea ray(just sayin)did mention one hatch may need resealed, small water stain in headliner.Port engine was fired and wasnt pumping enough water so they shut down and pulled inspection plate on pump, bad impeller. So they went further to the manifold and found pieces of at least two impellars. It will be back togeather tomorrow and run again.Surveyor says not a biggie no signs of overheating just run hotter than normal ,probably this season as only about 15 hrs since spring launch. He suggested i have the marina check the other impellar also and possibly tear it down to check for pieces at the manifold also.I said mabey the owner will have to pay for that service ,havent heard back yet,i will await the rest of the findings and oil sample returns before i make any changes to the contingencies already agreed on by the owner. They did get the leaking fuel valve fixed on the genny today also,so it will be run tomorrow too.I have never been stressed out about a boat purchase before.Glen

So all in all sounds not bad. Congrats on the new love! I still have 5 days til my survey. And the temps are supposed to be in the 20's and 30's. AWESOME, this will be one to remember.

Olds Just Curious - Unless I missed something - What model are you having surveyed - I live outside Cleveland - willing to help in any way - let me know.

Celtic it is a 1992 370 ec,located in eastlake at sima. The surveyor is finishing up the paperwork today and awaiting sea ray tech support for some info he requested on the fuel lift tube placement for the genny and something else i cannot remember but not a biggie. The engines ran fine for him yesterday .Starboard was harder to fire than port and smoked for a few seconds longer than port but probably from setting 2 months since pulled, ran fine after that. Will need fuel additives as some growth seen in fuel bowls and then new racors. We expect to be coming to cleveland next friday night so we can close on saturday and make a list of to do's also trouble shoot fridge hopefully it is repairable.dont know what help i will need but you can buff and wax it if you want!! Glen

Well the survey says ,buy the boat!!!
