OMC 235hp
I went to OH and picked up my new pride and joy. I thought it was a 1975 Sea Ray but it turned out to be a 1976 Sea Ray 240 SRV weekender. Its yellow and in great shape. It has a 235 hp OMC. The out drive was just rebuilt. It has 507 hours. The original interior still looks great. The engine purrs like a kitten. It has a stove, refrigerator, head and sink. The previous owner took great care of the boat and did alot of work. I am thankful for that. After some buffing and polishing and a little work on the teak she should be ready to go. I can't wait to get out on the water. I wish I had the camper top and will be looking looking for one. There are pictures in my album. Take a look.

BEAUTIFUL !!! 1976 240 SRV home.

WoW! She is beautiful!!!! I have my 79 SRV and love it. It seems like yours
is in much better shape then mine though. If you don't mind, Could I ask how
much she cost?

I know you will get a lot of joy out of her for years to come.
Let's see more pics., especially of the interior.

Enjoy this summer,
John

I paid $3500 for the boat and trailer. I reasonable price considering condition. The previous owner had about $10,000 in the boat and decided he wanted a larger boat. He purchased a Sea Ray 260 and never put the 240 back in the water. More pics to come as soon as the rain stops. I actually live closer to Roann but figured no one would know where Roann is.

I paid 2400 Boat, Motor and Trailer. Again it had a few more issues then yours and some cosmetic work to be done but all in all I think I got a pretty good deal. Once I get her in the water and running this year, I will start on the interior upgrades and get a Bimini top. I need to replace the lower outdrive. I have it sitting in the garage awaiting for me to replace the water pump before I install it. I'll get to it in the next few days.

I can't wait to see more pics.
Looks like you got a great deal.

John

They are mechanically the same so change fluid EVERY season, replace your water pump impeller every 2-3 years or when you replace your risers and make sure it's in the up position when you pull her out of the water. I made that mistake and I think that contributed to her premature death. I purchased my used outdrive for $650.00. Ouch !

Take care of her and Enjoy,
John

What part of Ohio did the boat come from, i want to say i looked at this boat before buying my 83SRV 225CC... ROB

Bob,
I picked it up at Lorain, OH. I just posted nine more pictures of the deck and interior in my pubic album. I haven't figured out how to put them in the post yet.
rgds,

Yes that is the boat that i looked at, very nice and clean, well taken care of. I was looking for one with a fiberglass floor, and the built in coolers on the back of the boat like the SRV 225CC comes with. rob

Very nice indeed. I love the interior pics. 1976. Last year of the electric shift. Can you get some pics of the engine and drive. This boat have power stering by any chance? If so a few pics would help me a lot.
Steve

You've just got to love the solid look of the old boats. Your rig looks great...the lines look stylish even today.

Hi David !
I've got a 1977 SRV240WE. It also has the OMC 235 engine (aka Ford 351W) with the Electric shift sterndrive. I've replaced the Intermediate Housing on mine. The original unit had 11"-12" diameter rubber boot. The replacement has a 15-1/2" rubber boot. I had to perform a little surgery to make it fit. I posted a couple pics of the process someplace in the engine repair forum. I noticed the refridge sits outside the cabinet. Mine is inside below the stove. I've removed the alcohol stove. BIG fire hazard !
I'm adding some new electronics and redoing the console wiring. What a rats nest !
It's still a great Family boat. By the way, install carbon monoxide detectors in the cuddy cabin. Haven't had any problems with CO yet. Have fun !

Hi david !

I think this link will work :

I found out that the transom on these boats is THICK when I had to cut a section out to make the new Intermdiate housing fit. It took me longer to get the steering gear/shaft in than all the rest of the job. The screw kept falling out before I could put it in with the screwdriver. A little bit of beeswax fixed that.

BobnLee,
I just got in from doing some work on the SRV 240. I had to replace the front bilge pump and rewire the Sub woofer. I am hoping the out drive will last a while. It was supposed to be reworked just before I purchased the boat. The fridge is a replacement that uses shore power. I am looking for a dc fridge that goes back in the cabinet. I will probably take the ac fridge out. I think someone redid the wiring in the console. It is very neat and orderly. I had the wiring console out just today when I was trouble shooting the bilge pump. Hope to get her buffed and polished this weekend. I am almost ready to hit the water. Do you have any of the canvas for your weekender?
rgds,

Hi David ! Most of the canvas I have was pretty much toast. I'm trying to make new canvas by using the old pieces as a template. I'm experimenting with the SunShade fabric and some of the heavy vinyl coated canvas. I'll probably wind up going to a boat canvas shop to have it made. $$$
Oh, you might want to get the OMC service manual for your boat. The aftermarket manuals like Clymer, can get you started. But, the real manual works a whole lot better. Check this site out to order the OMC service guide: http://www.marineengine.com/manuals/omc_sterndrive/order_pre-1980.html

BobnLee,
I was checking out your mod on the transom. Nice work. I do have some manuals that came with the boat. I will check out your link.
thanks,
David,
