Had a few minutes to surf before work so checked in quickly at one of the other sites. First thing I read was a question about how someone can "safely" tow a 5200 lb boat with an old trailer that needs wheel bearings, has no brakes, has cracked tires, and is being pulled with a 1/2 ton truck. It only has 30 or so miles to go each way, I'm assuming partially on a highway. And endangering everybody's lives by pulling off a stunt like this is way better than paying the pros $400.00 to launch the boat properly. My guess is it will cost at least twice that much to get the trailer to pass a safety inspection and to do what is required of it.

Be careful out there everyone. There are morons like this driving on the same roads as us and our families.

At least most of the responses were indicative of other peoples' concerns. They're lucky they won't give me access to THAT site. Unbelievable!!!!!!!:smt021

Great to see it's not just Australia, where you can't put brains into statues!

I think the frickin' trailer has more brains than this RETREAD!!!! Sure hope he surfs this site, and there's nobody on the roads near him.

Edit: PLEASE, someone with access to this site,,, pose my question for me:

"I'm nervous about launching" It's time to launch my 380 DA and I only have 75 miles to go, mostly on the freeway. The problem is, I don't want to pay for over width permits and I only have a borrowed single axle trailer to use, but it has no tires or suspension. Can someone please give me a few pointers on how to safely launch my boat with my "Smart Car" or my friend's scooter.

Have a 2nd go a this reply, first one just stalled on my iPad

Honestly you can't put brains in statues.

We just fixed a trailer for a customer under warranty.

In the wash up though....

They blew a tyre out, didn't have a spare, so towed it another 60 or so miles , I would suggest at 60mph. Surprisingly, destroyed the rim, wheel bearings, axle........is a very good customer.

I could give many more examples

Chris, Careful using "retard" on this site. Wayne got nailed to the wall for using it on another thread. Not throwing dart just trying to head off the eventual dressing down that can happen.

And yes, the guy needs some mental help if he wants to risk the safety of others while towing that piece of junk.

Chris, this guy is t "Dock Cart" by chance is he?

No, but I think I've said enough though Mark. And I even spelled "retread" wrong; it kinda looked like retard at first. Sorry. I really need a holiday. This 7 days a week stuff can only last for so long. Will be sittin' in the rain forest watching trees grow and the tides flow for 10 days as of May 10th. I think after that I might not be so synical. Ya just gotta shake your head sometimes though.

Aw, c'mon guys. Those idiots that write the stupid ads on CL are really a lot of fun. I love watching them when they're at the launch ramps!

Wow, so much animosity! Does it really surprise any one? There is so much stupidity in the world today, yet every one freaks out when something like this happens. Guy forgets to put the plug back in his boat. Leave your power cord plugged in when you leave your slip. People die because they leave a portable generator running on the bow or the swim platform of their boat. Really???

So a family of 5 here ended up in hospital last night with carbon monoxide poisoning. It was cold here last night, so they went to a hardware store bought a charcoal burner. Went home, lit it in the middle of the lounge room floor in their rented apartment. Closed all the doors into the room, curled up around it and went to sleep.

Darwin awards are still alive

I think i saw the guys boat on the side of I-90 friday around 11pm,totally oxidized tri hull, trailer sticking out in the slow lane ,wheel ,tire and axle hub missing from left side,no plate or lights. And there wasnt a tow vehicle attached either ,i think the cop was chukling at it,between cuss words,it was drizzling.

I think the tow vehicle was that Smart Car that was UNDER the trailer!!!!!:smt043

Hey, this could easily turn into a "Darwin" thread. Oh, never mind. Just going outside every morning is a "Darwin" thread.

Towing a Sea Ray 380 with a single axle trailer and a Smart Car. -- umm, did it occur to you that was tongue-in-cheek post from a troll ?
