I know I'm not the only shooter on CSR so I thought open up a thread about target shooting. I hit the range this afternoon with a friend and here was my final target out of a box of shells.

This is 10 rounds, rapid fire (just as fast as I could pull the trigger) at 7 yards from a Springfield Hellcat 9mm.

It's nice to know that even at my ripe old age some things still work.

Anyone else?

Years ago, I shot a 498/500 at 10 yards with open sights through a Ruger Mk1 long-barrel .22 pistol. 'Took 2nd place in the AA class! 'Even got a trophy for it.

That is awesome. Nice shooting! I joined a gun club last summer after having stepped away from shooting for quite a while. It's great to get back into the sport.

Right now I'm focused on getting better at trap. This summer I hope to get my kids out to the pistol and rifle ranges.

I won this thing at an American Legion raffle in 2021. Best $50 I've ever spent :)

This is what I'm learning trap with. It's a hoot and I am getting better...but I still suck compared to the guys I shoot with.

Be aware that most shotguns are built with a vertical lead built in. When this was explained to me years ago, my score improved. Your sight picture should show the bird in full relief just on top of the bead. Things are a little different if you are shooting a vertical bird in Sporting Clays.

Nice shooting! Nope, not the only one.
Am more into the benchrest and handloading myself though. Sent off my Sako 75 in 300WM for barrel replacement just last week. Well over 1200 rounds down that one's pipe. It is getting 26" 5R 10 twist match grade installed. Also adding a break this time around to take the bight out of it for my older shoulders. Not ready to give it up anytime soon.
I have tried some rapid fire with my Glock in 40 cal. A couple friends at our club have been trying to bring me over from the long gun side. Lots of fun but would be embarrassed to show my target after seeing yours.

I get a lot of advice every time I shoot. Sometimes it's hard to digest it all! How to stand, improve my hold, where my head should be, where my eyes should be, where you start on the house, what kind of load I should be running...oiy. I guess it's like every other sport/hobby.

My gun is allegedly 70/30 but it patterned much lower. At the moment my misses are pretty consistently behind and below the bird. I'm working on that. Trying to get up and on the bird more. I can be slow and jerky at times...

I picked up a Shotkam which is pretty neat. At least I can see how I miss, when I miss...

Nice pattern GFC!

When I used to use my shotgun to hunt ducks and geese regularly I was a really crappy shot. Found out after a few years that I am left-eye dominant but a right eye shooter. Not an issue for using a rifle with or without a scope, but makes shotgun pass shooting tough to be accurate. Haven't spent enough time shooting a handgun, and probably won't given Canada's handgun laws, but fast accurate shooting being left eye dominant might be a factor for me too.

A funny story from last night's news...

A fight in a house in our wonderful little city led to a shooting outside. Fifteen shots were fired by the shooter at the victim. The victim was only hit twice and suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Hmmm, two hits out of 15 shots. If I have to go up against a bad guy again I hope it's someone who shoots like that.
:p

I love looking at those O/U shotguns. When I was growing up I shot a 16 gauge Remington my grandfather had given me. I hunted birds any chance I got with that and used it on the trap range a few times. Still have it.

Over the years I got into big game hunting and owned a variety of rifles and hunted everywhere from Michigan to Louisiana, New Mexico, WA, AK and a few others. Usually hunting to put meat on the table.

My one non-meat kill was a nice Boone & Crockett mountain goat I got in AK. Hunting in AK was fun. I never shot a moose because I didn't like the taste of the meat but got a few caribou. Good eating those caribou are.

My father is a retired state trooper. They carried Sig 226 9mm's back in the day w/15 round magazines. He would regularly share with us kids that he was happy to have 15 rounds but if he misses a bad guy 14 times, he's saving the last one for himself. We always laughed...police humor...:)

Other than a refresher course last summer, haven’t shot since being a teenager. First shots with my new Ruger PCC at 25 yards.
