from the local paper:
A boating accident Friday night stranded a 27-foot speedboat atop the dam separating Coralville Lake from Lake Macbride, but neither the boat’s driver nor four passengers were seriously injured, Iowa Department of Natural Resources representative Joe Wilkinson said in a press release.
DNR officials said Timothy Payne, 37, of Cedar Rapids, was driving the high-performance boat when it left the water and plowed 64 feet onto the dam’s rocks about 11:30 p.m., causing extensive damage to the boat.
The cause of the accident had not yet been released Sunday. Wilkinson said the boat was sitting on Lake Macbride State Park property, and park officials would see to the craft’s removal once heavy equipment to do the job was available.
