Hello Members, Just wanted to attach a picture of my 1986 26.7 foot Weekender. I beleive it is a 245 but realy not sure. This was my Dad's boat that I just purchased from my Mother. I paid 3,000 as this was all she wanted. My plan is to restore this boat back to it's original glory. The Boat for now is wrapped and will start the project over the Winter and Spring. I already have a quote from a Maxine Marina In MD who specialize in Sea rays to sand blast the bottom, epoxy, and repaint for $2500.00. I plan on having the boat fully detailed. My Dad installed a new Engine before he pasted away. Any advise would be great. Thanks in advance. Joe

Dear Joe ,buy the 5 gallon bucket of elbow grease and the twin pack of advil when you start the cleanup .

Congratulations on your "new" boat. As is anything that is worth something, she will require lots of hard work and money to bring her back into good shape but I am sure knowing that it is a part of your Dad, you will make every effort and then some to have her looking and running majestically.

This is the perfect place to read, learn, and ask many questions. Not all of us were born boaters but all of us are boaters.................Happy Holiday Season ! :smt038

The hull number should tell you what model she is.

Sorry about your dad. Hopefully the boat will provide many good memories and more yet to come.

Good Luck for your project! It won’t be easy but rewarding! Do some search on the forum and you will find a great source of inspiration

Thanks to all who replied, I know this project will take sometime to complete, money and man hours. I hope to do my Dad proud. Where do I find the Hull number to tell what model this Sea Ray is. I know very little about boats and will take a couse in boating and safty. I know the Chesapeake Bay pretty well as I did go out with my Dad for fishing trips but sad to say my Dad did not show me very much when it came to operating his boat. I come from a Family of five and none of where allowed to operate my Dad's boat.lol. I look forward to all the info anyone can give me and thank you again. Joe

Joe, keep us updated and post a lot of photos...the people on this forum will be certainly of help!

Welcome aboard, Joe.

Check the starboard side of the stern for a series of numbers. If you can't find them on the boat, the HID number should be on both your Maryland registration paperwork, and also on the boat's title.

What part of the Bay are you planning on cruising?

I would have the trailer hitch and structural members inspected by a good trailer shop. You do not know what is in the hollow areas and how much corrosion there is you can not see.

Hi Joe

First my sincere condolences.

In regards to the boat. Had the same issue with my boat when i bought it last year. Lay down a tarp, wear gloves and a HEPA filter respirator. also eye protection. NOTE: Must be HEPA.

Full face mask would be the best.

I took 50-pounds of old paint off my boat and only used a scrapper and it took work but it fell right off.
