I am looking into buying a 1985 Sea Ray 270 and I have a crazy question. I already own a few older jet skis (1990 and 1991 Yamaha Wave Runner 650 Wave Runners).

The boat I'm looking into has a 3' swim platform. Would it be possible to haul a small jet ski on the swim platform? I'm looking to use the boat to travel up and down the intercoastal waterway. Do you think the boat would be ballasted well enough to haul a jet ski on the aft end? I could engineer a lift and anchoring system. I'm just wanting to know whether or not the boat would still be able to plane out with a jet ski like this on the aft end. I am guessing the weight of the ski is around 500 lbs. I can lift the rear end of the ski without any help, and situate it on the trailer without any trouble (and I'm a small guy).

I was just curious if this has been done on this small of a boat. It would be nice to utilize the watercraft I already own with this boat. If it won't work, then that's ok too. Just a crazy thought I had.

The boat has dual 190hp motors on the aft end. If the weight will be insanely unbalanced, can I load ballast into the bow to even it out? How bad could this affect the boat's operating characteristics?

Any and all help is greatly appreciated. This isn't a necessity, but rather a wild question I just started contemplating.

Thank you so much for your help and wisdom!!!

Will, I don't think the boat will support the the weight/size. Perhaps towing could be an option, although usually done with a larger main vessel.

Sorry, no way.....you'll tear that boat apart.
I'm guessing Searay built nowhere near the transom necessary to support a lift.

Simple answer is NO, you can not put a 500lb jet ski on a swim platform of a 27 ft boat. Without even getting into the structural design issues yet, just think of putting 500 lbs of people on your platform? Not in the cockpit, on the platform, first look at your boats level in the water, now do you want all these people to jump (I don't recomend you actually do this) up in the air and all land at the same time down on the platform??? The damage could be significant...
I have a 175lb dinghy on the platform of my 33 footer, and I have concerns when in rougher water...
