SE KY, Iam ready for SPRING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :smt038 JC

It's even dropping into the lower teens here in South Carolina tonight.............Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr :smt100

That's almost boating weather!!! It was 13 below zero on this morning and that's not counting the wind chill. It made it up to a balmy 2 above in the afternoon :smt038 :smt038
The news had some guy in a small ice breaker, breaking up the ice around Navy Pier in Chicago today. At least someone in the midwest is still boating

Wind chills down to -25 tonight....and I'm still thinking Spring!
-Mike

It was -3F here this morning, 2-3 inches of snow tommorrow and nothing above freezing for the next week.
Brrrrrr!
And I used to live in Florida.... :smt089 ..............

We will hit a low tonight of 8 degrees above zero. Ice has formed along the banks of the Potomac, and there is ice in som eof the slips next to my boat. Fortunately, the proximity of bubblers to my slip is keeping Truly Blessed II ice free. A nearly full bottle of 303 I left in the cockpit under the shrink wrap is frozen solid. Of note, I spoke with a friend of mine who runs a Marine Service Business. he was replacing an engine in a customer's boat today at a marina just south of Quantico. The temperature in the bilge of that boat was 46 degrees, (air temp today peaked at 20 degrees) and as such the water in the bilge had not frozen. This gives me some comfort knowing that between pink antifreeze and the warmer river water the boat, properly winterized, is OK.

But boy, am I looking forward to spring.
regards
Skip

I seems two weeks ago I was complaining about December and January being the windiest I could remember and the east coast was enjoying some great boating weather. Now its in the 80's here.

-4 here, -15 windchill. Expecting a little snow tonight also. Gotta keep thinking positive, we are over half way to Spring!

I came out to 33 this morning, I'll take that any day over what you folks a talking about. As a heavy truck mechanic I have been out in -23 wind chill a very few times, no way I want to be in it all the time. If you came out to 33 you would probably want to go boating which is what I plan to do Thursday thru Sunday this week.

Well chalk another one up to weather guessers who blew it (as usual) with their forecast of the teens here in South Carolina :smt101 ..............it only made it to the low 20's here last night.

I feel real badly for all you northern folks. I just noticed most of the schools are closed in my old hometown of Cleveland because of the cold weather. They said that Lake Erie is finally frozen over as well. That will turn off the lake affect snow machine but it's not a pleasant site for you boaters waitng for spring. :smt089

-10 this morning as I drove my truck to work...I let it warm up 20 minutes to drive 4 miles and it never got more then a centimeter above cold on the engine temp gauge...sweet

Imagine what 50 would feel like!

Now they are calling for 6inch of Snow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Spring cant get here soon enough! JC3

We are coming off of 24 hours of blizzard conditions (winds 30+, temps -2 degrees and 18" of snow). We've now warmed up to 8 degrees and may see 18-20 degrees by Saturday. The boat sits in a gloomy, 52 degree building which is not a bad temperature for working. Fortunately there are two bright mercury vapor lights right about the boat so lighting is excellent. Everthing from the hardtop to the rub rail is waxed and this Saurday, I'll do the inside of the cockpit. After that, two new water pumps on the 8.1s ( a known Crusader issue not covered by warranty :smt013 ) After that, move the boat outside around April 15 for 12 hours of hull waxing and then splash. With the current cold snap, it will be interesting to see what kind of Spring we have. I don't want to move the boat until I'm confident I'll be in the water on the first Monday following the 15th. As Skip noted, once you are in the water, the risk of freezing stuff drops down to nearly zero, especially with a heater going in the cabin.

I wish we were getting snow with our cold...in my opinion there is nothing worse than freezing temps with NO snow

It's like 100 degrees and rainy..

Mild weather in WA this week (low=43, high=51 today) following freezing weather for several weeks. With my little 600w electric heater running, I was able to comfortably tinker in the cabin for a few minutes yesterday -- a real treat.

Also had the 260 out on the river last week following dealer servicing. It was cold out there, but I had the river all to myself!

This week, I am thinking we didn’t move far enough South. Left Buffalo in the rear view mirror after the infamous winter of ’77 with 18’ of snow and wind chill record -64 degrees.

BTW, to all Bears fans, I of all people can really feel your pain. Yes, I hosted four Super bowl parties, one of which in very hostile territory.

Temps in MD last night of 0 degrees, but come April it always seems to turn quite beautiful around here very fast.

It has been so cold here in Cleveland, -4 and -20 with windchill for several days, my -50 degree "red pop" antifreeze I put in my fresh water system was frozen. I believe Frank said it starts to freeze into a slushy mixture before it gets to 0 degrees. I sure hope everything is O.K.

I winterized the engines myself this year for the first time. I drained the engines and manifolds, then ran -100 degree antifreeze through them until they came up to temperature, then I fogged them. So I should have 100% antifreeze through the entire system.

Shining's boat name is quite appropriate right now!

I can't believe this hasn't been posted yet: Sunny and near 70 today in Northern Fl.

It has really been COLD here too - relatively speaking. This has been one of the longest winters I can remember. Maybe it has something to do with the new 340.
