I took delivery of my new boat about 6 weeks ago and first let me say that the boat is fantastic. It was sent in from another dealership without the bimini boot. I was so excited about the boat, i told them to just call me when it arrives and i headed for the lake. I have kept in contact weekly and have been told numerous things from it has to be specially made to 4-6 weeks to it shipped and i don't know where it is. Bottom line is i am losing patience quickly as my bimini top is starting to show signs of excessive wear due to it not being covered. This is my first SeaRay and i don't want to think that this is normal customer service. Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions as to what i should do to expedite this process? Thanks in advance for your input.

Look at the tags on the other pieces of the canvas. Who made the canvas? Was it Great Lakes?

Regardless, my question would be, how hard do you want to push this?

One option is to tell them to give you the vendor name, number and their purchase order number so you can call them directly to expedite. You will at least confirm that the dealer has the part on order.

For now, to protect your canvas, could you cover it with a old tarp, tent or other material you have laying around?

With all of the shut-downs at Sea Ray and small company/suppliers going out of business, many things have been very difficult, if not impossible, to get. Great Lakes is not one of these companies that has closed it's doors. But, it is quite possible that the 4-6 week time frame could be correct.

That being said, and if you were my customer, I would loan you a bimini boot until yours arrived. Or, better yet, I would probably just give you one from another boat and then replace it with the ordered one. I'd rather see a customer protect his investment than have a boot sit in a boat on the showroom floor.

Try talking to your dealer about that. Do it nicely, but be firm.

Hey Dennis,

Just wanted to say thank you for the advice you give at this board.
I wish you were closer; I’d throw some business your way.
Again, thanks!

Thank you - that is very kind of you to say. I've boated my whole life - owned Sea Rays for the past 10 years (among other things). I'm glad to offer any help I can from a dealer perspective, but ultimately I joined this site because I love boating!

Funny thing is, I just found this site in April of this year! Wish I would've found it sooner.

I have relatives in Madison - last name of Friou. 'Ya heard of 'em by any chance?

jmlloy526 - sorry about getting off topic!
