Ok guys and girls the weather Gods are being good to us and whats everyone doing this weekend. Boats out front of house and the only thing left to do is decide to got to lake havasu or lake mohave. Spring break in havasu equates to eye candy and lake mohave equates to peace and quiet. Any one else heading out.

I brought our 240DA up to Powell and stored it for the summer yesterday. What a trip...blowout about 50 miles south of Flagstaff and pulled into Discount Tire with a bulge on another tire.

Needless to say, $600 and 5 new tires later, I was back on the road!

Heading out tomorrow to much colder waters - Puget Sound. The only eye candy we get until Sea Fair is when folks wear shorts with their sweatshirts!

Tacoma290, your story about shorts & sweatshirts reminds me of my time in Alaska. 60 degrees was considered very warm and off came the layers.

Oh! Well, uhh.......
Pictures, you say??

Yeah I had to block out the Naughty bits since this is a family show.....but I did not see many sweatshirts

Removed in the pursuit to retain the taste of this site!

Yessir, Captain. You are right. I checked closely for sweatshirts, I found none!

That said; better you than me in a crowd like that! I could not survive that, I would be headed for the hills! Remember when they used to say "Hills Brothers coffee, that is"?

As you have stated in the Sunburn thread you're 63, hardly Geriatric.
You should try SeaFair. It is a lot of people watching, obviously and you can stay a safe distance from the hedonism if you prefer, but I simply think it's funny. I stayed sober and people watched. It was fun.

Todd, is this on Lake Washington? If so, I understand that is fresh water? How do all that many boats get in the water there? I have no idea of launch facilities and such.

I would like to put the boat in the water and cruise in the Seattle-Bremerton area, at least do it once. Would be fun to see the skyline from something other than a ferry.

Remember the Kalakala in her prime? Had some beautiful woodwork inside.

There are several boat ramps on Lake Washington and Lake Union. Perhaps the easiest to use if you are towing from East of the Cascades is Coulin Park at the S. end of Lake Washington. It's off of I-405 near where it intersects with I-90 and has a large multi-lane ramp with long term storage for trailer and truck. It's a zoo around Seafair so be forwarned. We did Seafair once and that was plenty. Theres a lot to do on Lake Washington and Lake Union including some great views. We towed over from Lake Couer d'lene and once we did it for the first time we were hooked. There are also a large number of saltwater ramps that give you direct access to Puget Sound if you don't mind ducking your trailer in salt water. You can launch in freshwater and take your boat through the locks but that can be intimidating and be prepared for a long wait after Seafair. Alternatively we used to tow into Edmonds and have our boat slung off the trailer and stored the truck and trailer at the marina there while we played in Puget Sound and points North. We towed our 1990 330 SD.

We are still alive out here in the West!

I haven't posted in awhile due to having knee surgery. We did tow the boat to Lake Havasu, Az and had a wonderful week with great weather. The wind was very light and the lake was calm. We caught some nice striped bass and cruised around the lake. I always love this lake because they keep it so full all year long. Due to long term recovery from surgery, we probably won't get back out on the water until later in the summer or early fall. I hope to get out on Lake Shasta at least a couple of times.

Hope all went well! I've had both ACL's done and it's not fun! Hopefully your recovery will be swift and you'll be able to get some time on the boat! Good luck!

Thanks for the get well wishes. All we have to do now is find a way to extend the ladder by one more step and the boat will be ready to go.

Dave Somehow this just got regenerated and it looks
like I didn't reply to you. The nice thing about Trailering to
Lake Washington is that you can tour it, swim, pull up to
several restaurants for dinner and then travel through the
locks into Puget Sound. Once you're on Puget sound you
can head around West point and view Seattle from Elliott
Bay.

Then cross the Sound for about a 45-hour run to Bremerton.
Most of the trip is well protected. If you're up for a great
run south, Head to Gig Harbor. I have yet to go there myself
by boat but intend to this year for maybe a weekend run.

Sorry buddy, I meant 45 minute - 1 hour run......
Otherwise yes, we'd need the Exxon Valdez running alongside

Hey Dave - Todd is probably way more of an expert in launching on Lake Washington than I as we have our boat in a marina, BUT keep in mind that on a sunny Sat or Sunday in the dead of summer I hear stories of very busy launch places on the lake!! Be sure to find out the easiest ones.

Also, on sunny weekends going through the locks can be a multi-hour waiting experience so its definitely worth your while to try to go during the quieter times through the locks.

But like Todd said it is absolutely wonderful!!

Kathy

Thanks for all the comments. I am not used to multi-hour delays, so I would not want to put up with that. Sounds like a mid-week trip would be better, if I did make that trip.
