My 260 Sundancer is on a swing mooring so I do not have ready access to shore power to fully recharge the two batteries. I am considering purchasing a 3.2kVA generator so that I could recharge the batteries and run a couple of appliances (lights mainly) so that I can give the batteries a rest from time to time. Can anyone advise whether a 3.2kVA generator will hack the mission?

It should give you 26 AMPs. Most shorepower is 30 AMPs. Perhaps someoftheswim platform generator owners can comment.

I use a 2,000 watt Honda and it's been fine. It very easily runs the battery charger, lights, fans, fridge, ect. The toaster, microwave, and coffee maker are a different story. It will run one of them at a time plus the other stuff, but that is all.

One time at a raft-up the guy a few boats down forgot to start his genny on a new 350 sundancer. It took him about one hour to drain all the batteries, including the one that starts the genny. He borrowed my little Honda and it allowed him to charge all the batteries and keep his fridge and ice maker going with no problem.

I guess that's the long version of my opinion - that you should have more than enough power with that genny.
