Look at the pic in Todd's last post. The hot grill lid appears to be resting against the vinyl trim on the arch. What's with that design?

Hey,
I have this option on my boat and the brochure pictures concerned me as well. It turns out there is a plastic 'knob' that sticks about 1" out from the vinyl and prevents the lid from touching anything temperature-sensitive.

One thing that works for me is I lay down a sheet of heavy-duty foil with all the sides and corners turned up to form a little disposable pan that covers the entire surface.

Also, another good trick for extending the use of the drip pan underneath is to fill it with about 1" of water so if/when any grease drips down, it floats on the water surface and is easily poured out.

I have to say, aside from my transom seat, the cockpit grill is my favorite option on the 330.

Here is how I had mine mounted so that I could cook even with my camper enclosure up until I changed to the foreman grill for ease and conveyance.

Tim-

Glad to hear this. We have the grill in our 330 as well, but did not work up the courage to try it this summer. Concerned about smells getting into the canvas and the potential for discolouration of the vinyl behind the grill.

Obviously, this was not an issue for you.

The boat we bought was showroom equipped with the grill. I am thinking about removing it. I think more usable counter space for snacks and such would be of more value to us.

I used it about 25-30 times this summer and (so far) have no discoloration.
FYI, you can't preheat with the cover down. It will short out the breaker. There is a heat sensor somewhere and it will pop the breaker on the cord if it gets too hot.
