Is Dewinterizing absolutely necessary???

I did confirm that it is is the blue freeze plugs and he said they are left out, I questioned him regarding leaving the plugs in-antifreeze needed versus corrosion issue with them left out, and he stated they always leave them out and corrosion is not an issue...(Does it matter we are on freshwater?)

Thanks very much for the advise!

No, it does not matter if you are in fresh water. The inside of the engine is bare metal. It will rust and corrode - I guarantee it. I have seen it first hand on numerous occasions. The AF also help any seals that it comes in contact with to stay softer and more pliable.

FYI, we sometimes refer to these as "freeze" plugs, but that is not what they are called. Freeze plugs are actually brass/bronze pieces of round metal (like a very small dinner plate) that are inserted into the sides of the block. The blue plugs are called drain plugs or draincocks.
