Is anyone slalom skiing with a 205 Sport?

Hi everyone-- I'm looking into purchasing a 2009 Sport 205 with a 260 hp engine. I'm a slalom skier and wondering if there are any 205 Sport owners out there who can comment on how they find the wake for slalom skiing. I've always slalomed off of I/O boats but never anything as long as a 21 foot boat. Any replies would be most appreciated. Thanks!

Our boat is a215weekender with 260hp and is great for slalom skiing for me. And I would consider myself a moderate skiier. Of course I cant go near as long as I once could, but still love to cut through and jump the wakes. The wake is actually less than my old 20ft sunbird with 175. EAsier to get up too.

VERY nice wake for slaloming! Not quite as flat as a full-blown ski boat, but you'll absolutely have no problems crossing. Excellent pull, too!

It is very reasonable to cross at slalom speeds. I have spent a lot of time on my nephews MC 205 Prostar and while the Sea Ray wake is not quite as flat as the MC, it is comparable. Have fun, post pics when you get them!

Maybe. If you need to, sit the bigger guys in the back, or buy some water bags.

Ye, but you care less and less about jumping wakes as you drink more and more (Grin)

I always thought the perfect wake for slalom skiing was the smaller the better?

Doh! I completely missed that one reading through the thread.

As for wakeboarding I think the 205 throws an awesome wake. I have zero complaints with it so far.

Thanks Browney--

I took one for a ride yesterday-- it looked like a decent wake for skiing and good for wake boarding too. All around, looks like a good family boat for the next 10 years+. Now comes the fun part-- buying/haggling with the dealer! I've found lots of great advice for doing that reading old posts on this site. Cheers.
