Hello,

Just purchased my first boat. Did a lot of research on the internet and with the little knowledge i had, thought the boat looked great. It does only have 18 hours on it. The only problem I saw was a few scratches on the keel (sp?). Looks like the previous owner may have beached it a few times. I ran my hand over the scratches and did not feel any dents. Looks like a scratch from rubbing against something as opposed to impacting, but it has worn through the gel coat. Should I worry about it? Should I repair it? If so, how? Thanks!

I can't access that thread??

Are you only trailer boating (putting in and out the same day)? If so, there's no rush to fix it. If the boat will stay in the water, then you'll want to get it fixed ASAP, otherwise you will have bigger problems down the road as the water will absorb into the glass and cause delamination... which won't be covered by any warranty since it was caused by the user.

New gel can be sprayed onto that area... sounds like a big area, whereas that thread is talking more about small spots. That thread is a good one, though and if you decide to contribute to the site it's worth the read.

I think contribution starts at only about $25 per year... and it's pretty much guaranteed that you'll earn that back and then much more with the advice and subsequent savings you'll get from this site.
