you say your not happy with the connection. Is it the location or the quality or both?
anyway. there are settings in the radio to change the "aux in" input level. Make sure they are correct. I also assume you are connecting throught he headphone jack. This is not really desirable. you can get a connector for the bottom of the ipod which is a "line out". I got the connector shown on page 1 of the link above I haven't connected it on the boat yet but I have done a mock up in the basement and it sounds great with my xmd3. I think I will be running RCA cables from the radio in the glovebox around the front of the bow and to the helm so I can control the ipod from there. I will show some pictues when done.
It's Simple: Operate an iPod as if It were a CD Changer.
Clarion components with CeNET connectivity can control and recharge an iPod, and you can operate the iPod as if it were a CD changer. Play all tracks in order or select from five different playlists. And the CeNET component will display info such as artist name, song title, and album title just like an iPod!
Ended up buying the unit from Crutchfield. The unit plugs directly into the Sirius module under the dash. By doing this I didn’t need the extra cable ($75) that Crutchfield had suggested.
With any luck I will be on the water in a few hours to test it out.
nice job, looks like a good install. Let us know how it handles playlists and changes songs from the remote!
need to get out on the water to test it out????? My radio is always cranking in the driveway. Maybe that is why the police came by and told me I'm not allow to keep the boat in the driveway more than a few days to prep or clean! Some people just don't appreciate Peter Frampton's "Do you feel like we do" cranked up with the all the solo's!
I tested the ipod at the house but didn't jam the system. Given the fact the boat system is comparable to the system in my Tahoe I can only imagine how loud it would be sitting in front of the house. There is one "shady" kid that lives a few doors down that I don't trust so I had to wait until I hit the water for a real test.
The Clarion interface is a little weird at this point. Having had several ipod interfaces in different cars I thought I could just select a song on the ipod and plug it into the Clarion interface and play from that song forward. Either it doesn't work this way or I'm missing something. The instructions say you need to create play lists to hold all your music and there is a search feature of sorts. So without the play list the interface starts the ipod at song one and moves forward from there. having a 60 gig ipod full of music makes for a long day of hitting next.
Bottom line, I need to create some play list and try and figure out the search function.
