IPAD or Other Device Which Will For One Thing Allow .pdf Searches

Yes, GPS works without the 3G service. I don't have the Navionics app, so can't comment on that.

With GoodReader and GoodReaderUSB, you can copy the whole directory structure to the iPad, I actually have a very similar multi-level directory structure that I copied over.

GoodReader also handles a bunch of other file formats, MSOffice docs like PPT, XLS, DOC, images, jpg's, etc.

They also have a way to copy the files directly using a WiFi connection, which seems like it would be a lot easier, but I find the transfer speed to slow.

The app is only $0.99, I would give it a try...

I have the Navionics on my iPhone and love it.

Do they also do Charts and Tides? I have Charts and Tides and the southern section of the St..Johns River just south of I-295 has been missing for months. Supposedly it is an issue with NOAA?

Does Active Captain work with Navionics? I am guessing 'Turtles Boat" should know the answer to this?

Active captain, as of last time I checked, doesn't work on the ipad.

Navionics has tides and vector charts. Just look on the map with the T symbol in the middle, tap it, select "get more info" and it'll bring up the tides and where you're at on them. I think the ipad version is $19.99 or something like that. EarthNC also came out with an ipad app, looks kind of cool but I haven't used it so I can't say if it's good. iNavX has raster charts if you're into more conventional charts.

You'll also want to get boatingcafe's boating suite app for keeping a digital logbook for your boat. If you want weather, there's lots of weather apps but they won't work without internet service. I also have knot Guide for step by step pics on tying all kinds of knots. Also grab one of those free flashlight apps, select a red color and now you have a night friendly light that'll light up a good bit of the cockpit. If you're a magazine reader, grab zinio, they have all the popular boats mags in their store.

The Navimatics app has Active Captain data in it. I have not used this app but the AC info is integrated. I have EarthNC and hope to play with it soon. Looks promising.

A friend showed me the Navionics software on his Ipad the other day. Looked very nice and great display. He also uses some sort of avionics software for his airplane.

I am keeping an eye on the new Samsung or possibly Dell Android system which Navionics also supports. IF it uses Verizon and has phone (Bluetooth) and flash and expandable memory..it could be the ticket for my use. I also like the idea of a somewhat smaller 7" display. It might just replace my aging and finicky Garmin.

I cannot find the GoodreaderUSB on Apples store. Did you download from another location?

Also, they may have changed their current version of Goodreader. I was able to copy all of my files over, but I could not keep them in a folder structure.

Addendum: I found a way to put them in folders manually...it would have been nice to have been able to copy the complete structure over though.

Does anyone have any experience replacing the window screens I have a 1996 37 ft sundancer

I think if you want to replace the screens in a 1996 model, you have to uninstall the old screens first. This is assuming you have the 3G version.

Howard, did that file work for you? Were you able to transfer the whole structure?

Ipads were available that far back?
