I have a 215 express Cruiser that we are looking to do some overnights on since the weather is getting nice and would like a Inverter for the all so important nectar of the Gods, Coffee. We would like to maybe run a fan possibly and make coffee but not at the same time. I do understand it is tricky to recommend a inverter size without knowing the wattage or amp draw of the fan and coffee maker. Don't know if this is any help but we have two new group 27 batteries on the boat one for starting and one for house stuff, we only run the radio on the house battery when anchored up. There is no other electronics that use house power except for a 12 volt outlet for charging phones ETC.

I'm not looking to power anything big and I am willing to add another battery although I'm not sure were it will fit.

My question is how big of a inverter can I run with a single battery?

Thank you.

Richard

Not an answer to your question, but you can find some good 12v electronics, including coffee makers/tvs/dvds etc, on big rig trucking websites or some RV camping websites. May be an easier solution.

Personally, I'd skip the expense of an inverter (will need to be a rather big one to run the coffee maker). Fan draw is minimal (check out one called Endless Breeze) and even using the fan all night, you'll have PLENTY of power to start the engine on the same battery. For coffee, get yourself a Magma grill (great for cooking, too!), a pot to boil water in and a French Press type coffee maker (they're about $25). They make VERY good coffee, too. A good group 27 has plenty of juice in it for this, and more. We've done all that PLUS run a fridge/freezer and still had plenty.

We had a couple of very lengthy threads on this only a couple of weeks ago.

If you really want to do it though.........

If you look at what you want to run, and find out the wattage of those appliances, I will do the calculations for you and post up the answers to what you have asked

I think I will go the route of the grill, its just so simple. Thank you to all who replied.
