Does anyone know if there's an internet connected thermostat available that could replace the control panels for the reverse heating systems on boats? I'm talking about something equivalent to the Nest thermostat (or similar) that's available for homes. We have the Nest and absolutely love it. The Nest has the ability to set "safety margins" where if things get too hot or cold in the house it can turn on to ensure things don't exceed those limits. It also has the ability to monitor humidity, detect motion (which can activate a camera for security purposes), and automatically shut down the heating/cooling system if inactivity is detected after X period of time.

A quick google search didn't show anything immediately available. My thought is if one is available you would have the ability to turn on the system to cool the cabin before you get to the boat rather than leave it run all the time. Could also save some $$ for those that have metered power.

I don't see why it wouldn't work, as long as you have an internet connection on the boat.

I agree just need Internet connection in range. I have a Honeywell system at the house and control it all from my iPhone. Honeywell has a wide selection for home and commercial applications... You would just need right wiring config and voltage and it should work

I haven't dug into the SMX control panel but what I know for fact is the home HVAC systems operate on 24V AC. In looking at the wiring color schemes it's hard to tell if the standard is one to one swap. Functionally the thermostat in the house calls for things to happen on the furnace, which in turn calls things out on the heat pump system itself. So, I'm not sure if that's a functional killer.

The other thing the SMX has built in is the ability to control the fan speed. My nest doesn't do that. The air handler just turns on or off. The logic in the air handler provides the soft-start of the blower motor.
