So it seems that my Clarion CMD5 has gone on the fritz. Intermittently the volume will go all the way up OR all the way down. Once it does this, the unit is “locked” and most times the power button will not even work to turn it off (I have to disconnect power, ie turn off key, to turn off). I thought one of the wired remotes was getting stuck, but I have disconnected all (3) of them and the problem still occurs. Anyone else seen or had this issue – or any ideas what else to check? Also, anyone know if the newer CMD8 is a direct replacement for the wire harness and remotes if I was just going to switch it out – it looks like it might require updated wired remotes?
