I have a 98 400 Dancer. As many before me, I replaced the refrig last week. Love the new frig, but in the process the vinyl padded edge going into the boat on the starboard side got ruffed up a bit. I would like to repair, but can't really see any way to take the piece off to recover it. Anyone had this happen, or any suggestions to repair it?

Call a luxury car dealer in your area and ask the service manager who the dealer uses for minor upholstery repairs. There are people who travel around to car dealers and restaurants doing these kinds of repairs. Done properly, the fixes are invisible to the eye.

Let us know how it works for you. I'm about ready to call my Audi dealer for a recommendation to fix a tiny tear in the piping on one of my boat seats. My old "go to guy" retired and I've not had the need to find a new vendor for this boat.

I checked with the local Audi dealer today and learned they use a local company for vinyl seat repairs. So.....called the company and was told to bring the boat in and they would look at it. Then I googled vinyl seat repairs in west Michigan and got a number of hits with phone numbers the are no longer in service. However, the first page number one hit is a mobil company that does boat seats, home siding repairs, you name it. They have photos of before and after repairs that look fantastic. Also have lots of testimonials. I emailed them for an estimate on their easy to use website. We will see how this turns out. My 37 SR had a seam split and tear on a seat and the guy that fixed it did a perfect job. The ding on my Tiara is almost not worth doing because it is very small and not noticeable. But, I know it is there and it bugs me.

I used a local guy who has a Dr. Vinyl franchise to repair an actual tear and a scuffed section in one of our seat bottoms. It got dropped on the ground during the fall close up. This was about four years ago and the repairs have held and the color still matches perfectly. Dr. Vinyl is a mobile type operation for large stuff they can't bring back to a repair shop, so he came to me.

He was recommended by the person we use for canvas work. She told me for her to fix it she would have to make a whole new cushion cover and to try the repair before going to the much larger expense of a cushion recovering job.

Since this is a franchise operation, results may vary, but it still might be worth looking into.

If you would like to have a conversation on how to remove and recover those door trim pieces, I will be happy to help. You can PM me and number and time to call and I will do my best to accommodate.

Dr. Vinyl came up on the Google search, which I was glad to see. When entering our zip code the response is, "no service within 100 miles". My yet untried but local vendor responded quickly to my email and requested a pic which I just sent him. We will see what happens. This repair should take no more than 30 minutes of labor. It would take me that long to remove the bolster and an hour to drive it to his shop. After waiting, driving home and re-installing the piece I would have 4+ hours into it. His ad says he serves our community. I'll give him a shot at it. Thanks for the suggestions.

Thanks. Have been off the site for a few days. I will PM you after the holiday. Would love some advice. The boat was perfect before I upgraded the frig. Thanks, aj

Here is the progress report on Fibrenew's repair of the two small vinyl dings on my seat. The tech showed up on time and was actually five minutes early. It took him 40 minutes to do the repair and about 10 minutes to load and unload his gear from the boat. Total start to finish was one hour. The repair is invisible to the eye even when you know where to look. We talked while he was working and he said most of his business is car dealer work and residential repairs to furniture. So....the advice to call a car dealer in your area is still good advice to locate one of these guys. You are getting a primary source for a referral by calling a car dealer and you are not taking a chance on Internet info which may not be truthful. In West Michigan, this a service that works well. Since the outcome depends on the person doing the work, other area results may be different. I would use this guy again.

Thanks for the update. It is good to know where to start looking for help with a tear/rip in vinyl.

When he left our place he was off to one of our local new car dealers. He also told me he stops by the Tiara factory a few times a year to deal with small issues that arise during the manufacturing process.
