I thought I would share a couple of pictures of this years interior projects to date - carrying on from the hardwood flooring, brushed nickle trim and veneered cabin doors from last year. I have been trying to add some changes that update the interior - using some of the ideas and finishes I see on new boats. "Plan B" was very beige inside when we got her - carpet, trim, doors, cabinets etc. I think the wood accents and new soft trim has added alot of warmth and helped the feeling of being up-dated.

Next steps are a new TV in the forward cabin with some more woodwork to compliment it and blinds for the hull portholes. Hopefully more to follow.

Glen - it looks good. I have a 1996 400EC - lots of beige. Trying to update and add lots of accent colors to break up the beige look for now. Post pics when you can

My dad had a '97EC with the white formica everywhere and remember it looking soo sharp back then. Now it's a dated look. Back then though I thought the wood looked old fashioned. Now I love cherry interiors.
Nice little updates!

Nice work Glen. I never thought about darkening the wood, but that's a great idea. SeaRay didn't even do a nice job in the first place. If you get around to it, I'd appreciate seeing a close-up of the new finish.

I can see the nickel cabinet pulls (nice), but I can't tell if you replace the gold beading under the cabinets and counter. If you did, where did you get it?

On another note, Skuza and I have both put TV's on the fwd salon bulkhead. A 32" fits perfectly and the hanging locker in the master strm makes the wiring easy.

RollerCoastr,

Thank you. The little bit of wood on board does actually refinish real nice with the darker stain. I will grab a couple of pictures of the wood finish. It is a gel stain and I have been able to create the grain effect with the stainand brush (no wiping with a rag). It adds an extra dimension to plain stained wood and matches the hardwood flooring very well.
Regards the beading - I removed and degreased them and applied a a paint finish that looks
just like the nickle door pulls. It is the same paint I used on teh door handles for the heads, forward cabin and has proven very robust to date. The only ones I still have to do are around the flourecent lights and speakers in the headliner. I keep forgetting to take them home!

Saw your note about the 32" TV - that would be nice.

Glen,

This is our first season for our 1999 400 Sundancer.I amwanting to change out the TV above the fridge. Did you have to take the fridge out to get the old TV out? Can't quite figure it out. Your boat is looking great! A lot of ideas that I would love to do in the future. The wood floors look great!

Jeff

Jeff,

You don't have to remove the fridge to get the old TV out above it. The TV is mounted to a board that slides into the opening. There are 2 screws at the front on either side of the TV that screw down through the TV mount board into teh cabinet (they may or may not have plugs in the screw heads). Remove these 2 screws and the TV will slide out, There is a 120V plug back there so the disconnect is simple. I have tried to attach a picture to explain - hope it is there since I have had issues with pictures in the past.

Great floor and nice little touches. I like the way you are updating the look of your boat!

What about the fridge, Is it real stainless steel or just a film?

Pietro,

Thank you.
The fridge is a brushed stainless film. It was a new product a local company had that look svery realistic.

Thank you Glen! I will look into that this weekend. Your boat looks great! Giving me a lot of ideas to update our 99. Thks again! Jeff
