As some of you know I am an advertiser on the site. I just finished a challenging canvas project. A custom bow cover for a 340DA.

These are to keep the sun and rain off most of your boat, protecting gelcoat and your hard fought for wax job........ Oh yeah and bird/spider crap!

I have over 40 hours patterning and fabricating this 30 ft. monster (24 cutouts for bow stanchions, cleats, and windlass).

A friend let me use his 340 for fitting as the actual boat is in another state (hence the black cover not matching the other canvas).

I like it! But scared to think of the cost with all that time invested!

Not cheap ha ha.....but hey....it's boat stuff!

Would be great to have to stop the steel dust on my boat or the coal crud on Scott's boat!

Interesting, what keeps wind from getting under it? I assume there is velcro closures at each cut for stanchions or cleats but I'm not sure that would be enough if the wind were to lift it.

Good Job Dave.

The black canvas is going to absorb a lot of heat.

How is it attached to the boat?

The customer wanted black to match existing canvas. I do boat covers in black all the time.

Attaches under anchor by a strap, velcro cutouts around stanchions, and three straps to cockpit grab handles.

nice work Dave.....i'm sill thinking about a design for a bra for the front of my boat like we spoke about....

No helm cover template unfortunately.

Yes.....not sure how to keep water from flowing down the deck and getting under it. I put a rubber gasket at the base of the windshield on this 340 full cover.

water would not get under it....i am under a covered slip....the only reason I want to use a bra is because 3-4' of my bow sticks out from under the cover....i just want to protect the first 5' or so of the bow from the sun's UV rays and water intrusion into the deck core around the bow hardware from exposure to rain.....

We could just make an abbreviated front piece. Not sure the pattern I have would work for your 2001?

It was made for a 2003.

interested in this front end convo..... im under cover as well, bit the nose sticks out - approx from where the cabin cap dips down to the horizontal deck and fwd is exposed. already have soft deck at the winless, cleats, etc.

Ballpark price??

I have the pattern for a 2003 to 2008 340DA, other wise it would need to be a local to Cincinnati, Ohio for me to do different year/model.

Price for a 2003 - 2008, 340DA = $1750 (This is a VERY labor intensive cover to make with over 20 cutouts that must be in the right location and properly reinforced).

Good looking work Dave. As usual.
I've entertained the idea just to keep the morning sun off of the boat. Even though we are all under cover, with the boat in the slip year round UV damage is a huge problem here in my neck of the woods.

If/WHEN I move up to a larger boat I have already figured it into my up front cost.

Dave - I, too, will stick out of my Chattanooga slip about 6' with my new boat. Could a bow cover be designed that just runs from the rails - side to side - and attaches under the rails? Maybe use a pole to give it a little pitch for water to run off? Maybe attach under the rails with snaps??
