I am on Nantucket and my buddy who has the exact same boat as me put his boat up on the rocks coming into the harbor.....The helicopter was on way to get him off boat as it was on rocks and boat started to sink so he jumped in water......I am in shock at the whole thing....His boat sank!

How did he end up on the rocks? I don't see why people don't just drop anchor if there is a mechanical failure or something to impair operating the vessel safely, that is unless the water is too deep.

That is terrible!.....more details so we don't make the same mistake. I can't imagine the cleanup cost to recover her, Mike.

That's a pretty disturbing experience. I'd be interested to hear more as to how this unfolded. Did weather or mechanical issues contribute?

Is Marc OK? - my thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family. Things can be replaced - people can't.

Wow....doesn't sound good. Hope he is okay.

Ididntdoit....How did you know? I will do a Blog Post later about the whole incident. #1, the person is fine and is with me on my boat and #2, we are very lucky to have the Coast Guard who do their jobs with such professionalism.....

I had the pleasure  of meeting Marc in Newport - After finding out he was from Hyannis Marina I asked him if he knew the world famous (or at least CSR famous) Wet Paint.......and of course I got an earfull.......Nice Guy

I'm guessing fog has something to do with it (?) WOW. That is scary. Thank God everyone is OK.

Glad the Coast Guard managed to help out and thank God everyone is ok. It's always heartening to read about the CG's impact from the other side. Be safe out there.

They say fog is the most dangerous condition to boat in. GPS and radar are only tools but a collision with ground or another vessel is my concern. We boat at night quite a bit and my gps track is nice to have and always use even for known depths. We run at no wake speed on our river at night and if a fog rolls it, other boats become the issue. I'm glad your friend is ok, Mike.

Is this the 36DB that is on your dock just before you get to your boat? I remember seeing him cleaning his boat the night we stopped by your marina back in July.
