I'm absolutely estatic! Last year the insurance on my boat cost nearly just over $500 through my auto insurance company - it was the cheapest quote I could get being my first year owning a boat in over 20 years.

I just got a quote back from Sea Insure (Sea Tow) for $317!

You need to confirm that it is an agreed upon value policy, and not one that pays the depreciated value. Also, if you go offshore, find out what the distance limit is on your coverage.

Thanks Ken ... I'm a lake boater only. I will check on the policy as well.

@ Tcason - I tried them last year and they were the most expensive at over $600! I'll ask for another quote to see if anything has changed. I discounted them this year because they were so high last year.

I am now with NBOA and they are about 40% less than I was paying Allstate and about 70% less than Progressive wanted for the same agreed policy. They are a broker so some of the pricing no doubt depends on what underwriters they are working with at the time you get the quote.

NBOA boat insurance is crap as far as I am concerned. I won't even call them for a quote.Forget progressive they are out of control. And I would and do tell that to their faces I self insure.
I save 9000.00 a year
