Insurance increase this year (post Sandy)

Mine was $4025.00 with a 11/15~3/15 on land lay up and navagation from 48*N, than So along NE & Mid-Atl to GA coastal waters. So a 120% increase is serious $$$$$

Yow. You better move South, but, not too far...otherwise the premiums jump again. Going to attend out little soiree in Atlantic City this coming July?

Rich, I think we had the same insurer, they were busting my balls for going south. I had to have a rider attached, then they wanted someone to look after the boat, then they doubled the rider because I hired someone to look after the boat calling them a "crew member" because I paid them.... HUH? Anyway, good that they're getting out of the boat biz, I would hate to have to make a claim with them. I think the pickings are getting slim up here in the NE.

I had United Marine Underwriters went from $850 to 1100. Looked around got Charter Lakes out of Kent Island Md for $717. Got credit for no Sandy claim when i was 2 miles from breach of Mantoloking. In my marina boats in water no damage just ones on land.

I am a midwest, land locked lake boater. Mine went up about 18% this year. When I called, they said I had lost my 15% discount for boats under 10 years old. So I am also insurance shopping. It appears I will have to decrease my agreed hull value, if I change carriers. My current policy if with Boater's Choice, which is a broker like NBOA.

I had about a 40% jump last year with Sandy. This year it came down about $30. Never had any claims with Boat US. Got a nice letter from them warning me that they were going to raise my rates due to the damage done to their policy holders...

Same 18% increase for me! I'm with Markel and with increase it's $530 but it never hurts to shop around. NBOA has always given me good quotes I'll check with them.
