Anyone have any experience with Boats US denying a claim for faulty work and being able to turn them around? I had my risers and exhaust manifolds changed on my 37 Sundancer a year ago. Apparently (per insurance surveyor) the mechanic didn't tighten the studs sufficiently and allowed water to leak into the engine resulting in extensive damage/rust to valves, cylinder walls, etc. Insurance denied claim based on faulting workmanship. With that logic, if someone worked a fuel line, and it could be proved, and the line subsequently leaked and caused a fire, they could also deny the claim.

Anyone have any success being able to turn the insurance company around, particularly Boats US?

You need to read the exclusions in your policy. Your insurance isn't going to warranty the repair work you have done, particularly on a "wear" part like exhaust systems. Your best hope for recovery is to go back to the shop that did your risers and manifold replacement and hope they have liability coverage for faulty work.

Sorry.........

@Fwebster,
Understood. I wasn't looking to cover the manifolds and risers but damage to the engines and defraying some costs for the new long blocks & labor. Just thought someone out there in Sea Ray world had a similar experience and had some success. Initially hadn't even thought about a claim and figured I was SOL.

@techmitch,
Thanks, I have a attorney 'looking' at the issue.

If the shop that did the work did the repairs after and said the original work was not correct you have a good case. If it was a different shop it could be difficult to prove the original work was defective unless it was noted on the second invoice. And the second shop is well respected.
