Any helpful hints? I got some 3/8" plywood and liquid nails to reinforce the fiberglass. Other than that I assume measure 3 times before drilling.. Lol

I have a 2007 185 with a factory extreme tower. The attachment points have already been thickened in the factory. I would assume they would all have the same when built. You should be able to have a look and see May be your tower will be at the same points?

If you're installing the "Sea Ray" tower, then as mentioned above, the reinforcement is already there in your model. Hang it, mark it, drill it, install it, go boating.

Not doing the SeaRay tower, I got an Airborne. Do you have a pic of where mounting points are?

No, but you'll be able to find them by looking at a picture of a Sea Ray with the factory tower.

Liquid Nails gets pretty hard/brittle, I think? Use something like BoatLife LifeCalk or 3M 4200/5200 if you end up not using the factory locations.

tape where you are drilling so you don't chip the gelcoat. reverse the drill first.

good suggestion here.....i like to use a drill bit that is at least a couple sizes bigger than what i need in reverse to break through the gelcoat....then use the right size drill bit to make the hole.....this helps prevent chipping and cracking in the gelcoat around the hole......

Does anybody have any pics of how their wiring is run for lights and/or tower speakers? Trying to figure out the cleanest way to run them.

Easy way to pull the wire is to drill your hole up top run a string into it then use a shop vac on the bottom of the tube to suck the string out the bottom.

How did you go installing the tower? I am now back home and can send picks of a factory install from the underside if it helps. Craig

Install went great! i used wood to reinforce just to be safe but where I drilled was pretty thick. I just gotta run the wiring for the light and speakers now. I'm trying to figure out the cleanest way to get the wires into the boat. I've found some deck plugs that would be clean and make it easy to disconnect. How are yours run?

This how the factory runs the wires. Is this what are looking for? uploadfromtaptalk1396814474129.jpg

Yes, thank you!! Now That's an idea.. I was looking at deck comnector plugs, but this is pretty simple.

I did the same thing on the other side for the tower speakers. The stainless steel piece is called a midget vent.
