Heres my question, In front of both the driver and passenger sides of my 1998 180 there is an area in the floor that goes up on an angle approximately 16 inches or so then flattens out for 5 or 6 inches or so which to me would be a footrest area, has anyone ever cut a hole in this area for say a 12" sub to be installed? If not does anyone know if this would compromise the strength of the boat in the bow area or the dash areas? Thanks

I have a 1999 210BR and just installed a sub.

I would not cut a hole in there. I built a wedge shaped box and installed the sub in it.

Below is a link (with pictures of my boat) about what I was trying. The panel that is in the pics didn't work out so well.

I ended up going to a bigger sub (12") and made a sealed enclosure for it. That worked really well and sounded great. But then I decided to build a ported enclosure (because I still had some wood left over) and that is what I am going to use. The ported version delivers a lower and harder hitting bass and that is what I want. The sealed is still really good but I like the ported box a little better.

The sealed box stopped the same place as the panel did, but the vented box goes over further to the right by about 3 - 4".
